Belarus welcomes EU's effort to implement revised European Neighborhood Policy

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – Belarus welcomes the effort of the European Union to implement the revised European Neighborhood Policy, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said as he met with the heads of the delegations of the Visegrad Group and Eastern Partnership countries in Minsk on 15 March, BelTA has learned.

The minister emphasized the increased relevance of the Eastern Partnership that should be preserved and developed as an effective mechanism of pragmatic cooperation between the European Union and its eastern neighbors. “In this light, we welcome the effort of the European Union to implement the revised European Neighborhood Policy, including to transform the Eastern Partnership into a better structured and result-driven initiative. Specifically, we welcome the launch of the exchange of opinions on the bilateral ‘partnership priorities' and the talks on key priorities and objectives of the Eastern Partnership for the period until 2020,” Vladimir Makei stressed.

The minister expressed hope that the implementation of the revised European Neighborhood Policy will contribute to the consistent progress towards the key Eastern Partnership objectives which include strengthening of the stability, security and prosperity in the region.
