Belarus, United States discuss cooperation prospects

MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) – The prospects of the Belarusian-U.S. relations were discussed at a meeting between Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko and Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Bridget Brink on 4 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting “discussed the state and prospects of further development of bilateral relations”, the press service informed. During the working visit to the United States, which started on 3 October, the deputy minister met with Vice President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce of the United States Gary Litman to discuss the prospects of joint work in the development of trade and economic relations.

Oleg Kravchenko also held meetings with Chairman of the U.S. Helsinki Commission, Senator Roger F. Wicker and Vice Chairman of the United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs Eliot Engel. “Joint efforts to preserve the historical heritage were discussed at the meeting with Chairperson of the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad Lesley Weiss,” the press service said.

The Belarusian deputy minister of foreign affairs also held a briefing at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and meetings with representatives of Washington's leading think tanks: the Kennan Institute, the Jamestown Foundation RAND Corporation.
