Belarus-UAE agreement on classified information protection ratified

MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) – The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus has ratified the agreement between Belarus and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the mutual protection of classified information, BelTA has learned.

The agreement was concluded in Minsk on 16 December 2016 to organize and ensure the mutual protection of classified information falling under the responsibility of the respective competent security authorities that is exchanged between the two countries in the military, military-technical and other military-related sectors of cooperation.

“The document is of a model type. Its structure and contents are similar to the provisions of other bilateral agreements meant to protect state secrets. In the foreign political, economic, military, sci-tech and other cooperation with foreign partners there can emerge a need to share classified information. The agreement envisages all necessary mechanisms, including the order of using and transmitting classified information, and also measures to ensure its safety,” Chairman of the State Security Committee of Belarus Valery Vakulchik noted as he presented the draft law.

The State Security Committee has been authorized for the implementation of the agreement.
