Belarus to submit resolution on cyber security to OSCE PA

MINSK, 31 January (BelTA) – Belarus plans to submit a resolution on cyber security for the consideration of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said at a meeting of the Council of the House of Representatives, BelTA informs.

Belarusian MPs will take part in the winter meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Vienna in February 2018. Belarus plans to submit its resolution on cyber security for the consideration of the organization.

Vladimir Andreichenko speaks in favor of continuing constructive dialogue with the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's Special Representative on Eastern Europe Kent Harstedt who paid a visit to Belarus last week.

“We can also see serious progress in the development of our interaction with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. We need to continue the dialogue, defending the country's positions and demonstrating readiness to discuss all the fundamental issues," the speaker said. The upcoming assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is due in Geneva in March, will not be left without attention as well. Vladimir Andreichenko stressed that this is a good platform to host bilateral meetings with MPs of distant-arc countries.

In a bilateral format, the House of Representatives plans to organize official visits of the leaders of parliaments of Pakistan and India to Belarus. “In the context of the foreign policy objectives to promote the national interests in Africa we should address the issue of getting the Belarusian Parliament a special guest or observer status in the Pan-African Parliament,” the speaker added.

In turn, the Belarusian MPs plan to visit Switzerland in the near future. According to the speaker, the official visit is slated for 27 February-1 March. A number of events are scheduled in the Belarusian capital with the participation of Swiss lawmakers.

The 54th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the State Union of Belarus and Russia will take place in Brest in June 2018.
