Belarus to increase economic presence in Pakistani province of Punjab

MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) - Belarus plans to increase its economic presence in the Pakistani province of Punjab, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Pakistan.

On 23 May Belarusian Ambassador to Pakistan Andrei Yermolovich held talks with Malik Tahir Javaid, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lahore, capital of Pakistan's largest Punjab province with a population of over 100 million. The parties discussed the status and prospects for cooperation between Belarus and the province of Punjab in trade, economy and investment.

“The parties welcomed the growth in the supplies of Belarusian agricultural equipment, baby food, chemical fibers and other products to the Pakistani region. Pakistan plans to increase sales of textile products, mangoes and citrus fruits in the Belarusian market,” the diplomatic mission informed.

An agreement was reached to hold a business matchmaking event in Lahore before the end of the year, with an emphasis on engineering, agriculture, light industry and pharmaceutics.
