Belarus to host parliamentary hearings on SDGs 19 December

MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – The Council of the Republic of the Belarusian parliament will hold parliamentary hearings on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on 19 December, Chairperson of the Permanent Commission on Legislation and State Construction Alla Bodak said during the meeting of the upper house of parliament on 30 November, BelTA has learned.

“We think that the public hearings of the Council of the Republic to discuss the partnership between the branches of power as a prerequisite for the successful achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, which we propose to hold on 19 December this year, will enable us to combine our efforts to ensure the sustainable development of Belarus and its economic growth with the work on environmental protection and human development,” Alla Bodak said.

Based on the results of the hearings we will determine the areas which we should prioritize in the first place and draw up the recommendations for the public authorities and other organizations on the balanced action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, Alla Bodak added.
