Belarus to discuss possible amendments to election law with OSCE PA Vice President

MINSK, 9 December (BelTA) – A group of experts under the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus will meet with Special Coordinator of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) short-term observer mission, Vice President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Kent Harstedt on 20 December to discuss possible amendments to the election legislation of Belarus, CEC Chairwoman Lidia Yermoshina said in an interview to the SB. Belarus Today newspaper.

The CEC group of experts will resume its work in the near future. “The CEC group of experts will meet in Minsk on 20 December. Attending the meeting will be Special Coordinator of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) short-term observer mission, Vice President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Kent Harstedt,” Lidia Yermoshina said.

The meeting will discuss possible amendments to the Belarusian election law taking into account the OSCE/ODIHR final report on the parliamentary elections. The experts, jointly with the Central Election Commission, will work out a final document to be submitted to the President. If the positive decision is taken, the corresponding draft law will be submitted to the parliament.
