Belarus to continue working on visa facilitation with other countries

MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) - Belarus will continue working on the facilitation of visa requirements with other countries, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media following a meeting with European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn, BelTA has learned.

“We intend to continue working on easing the visa requirements between Belarus and other countries. It benefits the development of business, tourism, people-to-people contacts. We will take further steps carefully in this regard,” Vladimir Makei noted.

According to him, Belarus will negotiate with all partners in order to quell their concerns over the liberalization of the visa regime. “You know that we are currently in talks with Russian partners over the mutual recognition of visas. We have made appropriate proposals. The Russian friends are examining them now. Our main goal is to remove the issues that exist on the Belarusian-Russian border for nationals of third countries,” the minister said.

Vladimir Makei stressed that Belarus intends to continue active negotiations with its partners on visa facilitation. “At the same time we seek to create easier travel opportunities for our citizens,” he noted.
