Belarus to buy another four Russian combat and training aircraft

MINSK, 21 June (BelTA) – Belarus intends to buy four more combat and training aircraft Yak-130, BelTA learned from Belarusian Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov on 21 June.

The defense minister said: “We have already bought eight Yak-130 combat aircraft. And we use them. We may buy another four aircraft in the future.”

Andrei Ravkov pointed out that a state armament program is in effect in Belarus. Weaponry is purchased in accordance with the program. The state budget appropriates funds for developing the Belarusian army bearing in mind this state program and government defense orders.

As far as the Belarusian-Russian contract on purchasing a batch of Su-30SM jet fighters is concerned, Andrei Ravkov noted that the contract will start working once funding is available. The official did not specify when Belarus will get these combat aircraft. BelTA reported earlier the Belarusian army intends to buy 12 Su-30SM jet fighters from Russia.
