Belarus-Slovakia contacts in international organizations praised

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Boleslav Pirshtuk took note of the intensified contacts between Belarus and Slovakia in the international organizations as he spoke to Chairman of the Health Committee of the National Council of Slovakia Stefan Zelnik on 14 November, BelTA has learned.

According to Boleslav Pirshtuk, Minsk hosted the 26th summer session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in July 2017. The Belarusian capital is gearing up to play host to a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Central European Initiative (CEI) on 28 November. Belarus is presiding in the organization in 2017. Taking part in the meeting will be heads of the parliaments of different countries, including Slovakia. “At the level of MPs we can be useful to each other and offer support in the areas of interest,” the vice speaker said.

He added that in general the Belarusian-Slovak relations have been vibrant in the recent years. The two countries held bilateral visits, expanded contacts at the government and parliamentary levels. Boleslav Pirshtuk is confident that the two states can achieve even better results with such an approach to work. This approach should have an impact on the mutual trade as well. We have every opportunity for it, the deputy chairman of the House of Representatives said.

In turn, Stefan Zelnik noted that it is necessary to intensify ties in healthcare, industry, culture and, especially, agriculture where Belarus has reached considerable results and can share a lot with Slovakia.
