Belarus shows interest in development programs in Africa

MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Republic of South Africa Andrei Molchan met with Dr. Ibrahim Mayaki, the CEO of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) Planning and Coordinating Agency, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

“The parties discussed the prospects of Belarus' participation in the NEPAD programs in Africa, in particular in the fields of agriculture, science and education, development of the industrial sector and emphasized the interest in establishing fruitful cooperation,” the press service informed.

“New Partnership for Africa's Development is the program containing a specific set of actions. NEPAD is the first development program launched by the African countries themselves. The overall objective of NEPAD is to defeat the social and economic backwardness of African states, to contribute to their economic growth and enhance their participation in the system of the world economy relying on their own resources and close partnership with the international community.
