Belarus seeks closer cooperation with Bulgaria

MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – Belarus advocates closer cooperation with Bulgaria, Head of the European Cooperation Department at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andrei Bushilo said at a function held on 28 March to mark 25 years of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Bulgaria, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat stressed that 25 years is a big period in the relations between Belarus and Bulgaria, on the occasion of which the ministers of foreign affairs of the two countries exchanged letters of congratulations. Today, Belarus and Bulgaria enjoy strong friendly relations. Andrei Bushilo emphasized the importance of developing interregional ties. More than 40 Belarusian-Bulgarian twinning agreements are based on the real friendship between cities and regions of the two countries.

The diplomat believes that the two states need to strengthen and develop trade and economic relations, expand the presence of Belarusian companies in the country. He also expressed hope for further strengthening of political contacts and those between the two peoples.
