Belarus, Russia to focus on resources for digital projects in industry

MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia will focus on resources and workforce to implement digital projects in industry, agriculture, energy and transport, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich told BelTA.

One of the break-out sessions of the 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, which is due in Mogilev on 10-12 October, will be dedicated to cooperation in the context of digital economic development. Mikhail Myasnikovich noted that here Belarus and Russia can be useful to each other. “Among the key areas is information security, general safety rules in the digital area, unification of approaches to the regulation of digital assets, harmonization of the legislative base, including the development of the common legal framework in digital economy. The states will also have to focus on resources and workforce for the implementation of digital projects in industry, agriculture, energy, and transport,” the chairman of the Council of the Republic said.

He stressed that the digitalization of the economy is not just a new trend but the factor of global competitiveness of modern economies. “Belarus has very good traditions in the IT. Thousands of people have unique knowledge and experience while companies have stable contracts. But this sector has been developing very rapidly, is very important. There is no place for old baggage. We need to move forward. This is a mutually beneficial process because we have something to share with each other,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.
