Belarus, Russia to align laws to ensure equal terms for economic operators

MOGILEV, 11 October (BelTA) – The concept of alignment of the legislations of Belarus and Russia will focus on ensuring equal terms for economic operators, State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota said at a session of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission for Interregional Cooperation of the Council of the Republic of Belarus and the Federation Council of Russia on 11 October, BelTA has learned.

The concept is structured into 12 sections and is guided by the Belarus-Russia Union State Treaty. “The focus will be made on ensuring equal terms for economic operators. This matter is probably one of the biggest sources of disputes, disagreements and clashes, therefore, it gets so much attention,” Grigory Rapota said.

He noted that the alignment of laws is one of the instruments to establish a single legal framework. “This instrument is underpinned by the development needs of the Union State,” the state secretary added.

The draft concept was submitted for scrutiny by the Union State Parliamentary Assembly in June. A day before the Standing Committee received a rather extensive feedback, which will be studied and taken into consideration.
