Belarus, Romania discuss national SDG efforts

MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Romania have discussed what is done at the national level to reach the Sustainable Development Goals. The discussion took place as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Romania Andrei Grinkevich met with State Secretary of the Romanian Environment Ministry Ion Cimpeanu, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

The sides discussed a broad range of matters concerning Belarusian-Romanian cooperation and the international agenda. They exchanged information about the national efforts to reach the SDGs. Ion Cimpeanu spoke highly of Belarus' initiative to establish cooperation between national institutions and mechanisms, which are responsible for reaching the SDGs in the region. The state secretary said he would be a member of the Romanian delegation, which will participate in the forthcoming European and CIS forum of national coordinators in charge of reaching the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The forum is scheduled to take place in Minsk on 21-22 February 2018.

During the meeting the Belarusian diplomat also arranged a brief presentation of Belarus' trade, economic, investment, tourism, and education potential.
