Belarus requests official explanation of another incident at Ignalina nuclear power plant

MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – Belarus has requested Lithuania to provide an official explanation of another off-nominal situation at the Ignalina nuclear power plant, BelTA learned from Dmitry Mironchik, Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The nuclear power plant's website reported another off-nominal situation a short while ago, however, the Lithuanian side has failed to provide any official statements. “It is not the first off-nominal situation that has occurred at the Ignalina nuclear power plant this year. We believe that nuclear safety in the course of the technically complicated and lengthy decommissioning of the Ignalina nuclear power plant demands close attention on the part of not only Lithuania but international bodies, including the European Union,” said Dmitry Mironchik.

The official specified that they had requested an official explanation of the situation from the Lithuanian side.
