MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – It would be commendable for Belarus to have its own representatives in administrative bodies of political organizations, BelTA learned from Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Boleslav Pirshtuk on 15 March.
Boleslav Pirshtuk reminded that Belarus' Permanent Representative to the OSCE, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Austria Alena Kupchyna had been named a candidate for the position of the secretary general of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The deputy head of the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament said: “It would be commendable for Belarus to have its own representative in international administration bodies of political organizations. In my opinion, Alena Kupchyna has very good chances of beating the competition. I certainly hope that she will work there, will represent and promote Belarus' interests on international platforms.”
The term of office of the incumbent OSCE secretary general expires on 30 June.
