Belarus ready to continue constructive dialogue, cooperation with OSCE agencies

MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei met with a delegation of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Minsk on 22 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.

The delegation comprised Cayetana De Zulueta Owtram, the head of the OSCE/ODIHR mission that monitored the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Kent Harstedt, special coordinator of OSCE short-term mission to the parliamentary elections, and a number of other experts.

The parties discussed the conclusions and recommendations of the OSCE/ODIHR final report on the parliamentary elections held in Belarus on 11 September 2016.

“Vladimir Makei emphasized the high level of Belarus' cooperation with ODIHR and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly achieved over the recent years. He reaffirmed the readiness of the Belarusian side to continue the constructive dialogue and cooperation with the OSCE agencies in elections-related matters and other areas,” the press service said.
