MINSK, 3 April (BelTA) – The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus has ratified the agreement on information cooperation between the CIS member states in transportation of radioactive sources, BelTA has learned.

The ratification of the agreement will promote mutually beneficial cooperation in the management of radioactive sources, help control the transportation of radioactive sources of higher and highest level of danger and combat illicit nuclear trade.

“When the agreement is ratified, the next step will be working out a common procedure and the format of information exchange on transportation of radioactive sources,” Belarusian First Deputy Emergencies Minister Vasily Stepanenko remarked when presenting the bill.

The agreement was signed in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on 7 June 2016 by the heads of government of Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
