Belarus protests after Lithuanian plane enters airspace

MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) – Belarus has lodged a protest with Vilnius after a Lithuanian aircraft violated the Belarusian airspace, BelTA learned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“On 22 April the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Ambassador of Lithuania to Belarus Andrius Pulokas to give him a note in which the Belarusian side protested the violation of its airspace by the Lithuanian aircraft,” the Ministry of foreign Affairs said.

The Lithuania aircraft entered the Belarusian airspace at 13h40 on 19 April. The aircraft flew 8km deep into the territory of Belarus and at 13h43 made an u-turn and flew out. All the time the aircraft was in the Belarusian airspace it was controlled by Belarus' air defense.

The Belarusian side expects explanations over the incident, reads the note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
