Belarus PM off to Sochi for SCO Heads of Government Council meeting

MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) – Belarus' Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov has left for Sochi, Russia to take part in a meeting of the Heads of Government Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) which is underway from 30 November to 1 December, BelTA has learned.

The meeting will focus on further promotion and expansion of trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation in the SCO. Belarus is taking part in the event as an observer.

Andrei Kobyakov is expected to hold a number of bilateral meetings with foreign partners.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a permanent regional international organization founded in 2001 to comprise China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The SCO major goals is to strengthen mutual trust and good neighborliness between member states, assist their efficient cooperation in the political, trade, economic, sci-tech and cultural sectors, and also in education, energy, transport, tourism, environmental protection, joint maintaining of peace, security and stability in the region.
