Belarus plans to open consulates in Malaga, Barcelona

MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – Belarus plans to open honorary consulates in Malaga and Barcelona, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Spain following the meeting of Belarus' Ambassador Pavel Latushko with Director General of Bilateral Relations with European Union Countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain Juan Lopez Herrera in Madrid.

The main focus of the talks was made on the first meeting of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Spanish commission on economic and industrial cooperation which is due to take place in Minsk on 18 October. The sides considered further meetings at the level of the Ministries of the Foreign Affairs of the two countries. The parties reaffirmed the interest in holding the bilateral ministerial consultations on consular matters in 2018.

The sides also talked over the results of the visit of the Belarusian delegation led by Director of the Entrepreneurship Department at the Economy Ministry Piotr Arushanyants to Madrid on 9-13 October. The parties discussed the prospects of signing bilateral agreements on cooperation in tourism and justice. The Belarusian ambassador informed on the forthcoming joint Belarusian-Spanish cultural projects.

Pavel Latushko and Juan Lopez Herrera emphasized considerable intensification of the Belarusian-Spanish cooperation.

The ambassador also met with representatives of the Iberia Airlines to discuss the possibility of direct flights between Minsk and Madrid.
