Belarus' National Assembly, Parlatino set to establish strong bilateral ties

MINSK, 2 December (BelTA) – The National Assembly of Belarus and the Latin American Parliament (Parlatino) have plans to establish strong bilateral ties, the press service of the House of Representatives told BelTA commenting on a visit of Boleslav Pirshtuk, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives who heads the National Assembly's delegation for contacts with the Latin American Parliament, to Panama.

Boleslav Pirshtuk is attending events of the 32nd Parlatino General Assembly. The Vice Speaker met with Parlatino President Blanca Alcala. The Belarusian MP stressed the importance of the agreement on cooperation signed between the National Assembly of Belarus and the Latin American Parliament in March 2016. Parlatino granted Belarus the status of permanent observer in its various bodies. “The parties also expressed mutual readiness to establish close bilateral ties that will be strengthened by specific measures to be taken in different areas of cooperation. Boleslav Pirshtuk pointed out that Belarus is eager to establish trade ties with the countries of Latin America,” the press service said.

Boleslav Pirshtuk and representatives of the Latin American Parliament discussed issues related to the development of the bilateral relations and Belarus' participation in future Parlatino events.

On the same day, Boleslav Pirshtuk participated in a regional seminar on sustainable development goals. The Vice Speaker met with President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Saber Chowdhury to discuss the cooperation with this international organization.

The Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives is scheduled to make an address at the opening of the 32nd Parlatino General Assembly.
