Belarus named European donor of peace and stability

MOSCOW, 28 June (BelTA) – Belarus is a European donor of peace and stability, a country that causes no problems to others and, on the contrary, contributes to the security of the region, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko said at a reception held at the Belarusian Embassy in Russia on 27 June to mark the upcoming Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“Many pin hopes on the Minsk negotiating platform as a venue for resolving conflicts,” the diplomat said.

Igor Petrishenko noted that from the first days of independence, sovereign Belarus has been working to build equal relations of partnership with all interested countries and step up its participation in the international multilateral cooperation. “This multi-vector nature of the Belarusian foreign policy is a result of the eternal aspiration of our people to live in peace and accord with everyone. The new Belarus was the first country to voluntarily renounce possession of nuclear weapons and withdraw them completely. We have not participated in a single military confrontation, and have had no ethnic or religious conflicts,” the ambassador stressed.

Igor Petrishenko noted that Belarus has managed not just to preserve its economic potential and famous brands, but also to develop them and create an export-oriented economy, new enterprises making highly competitive goods, which proves the country's sound economic standing. “Belarusian products are present on all the continents. The ‘made in Belarus' label is well-recognized in foreign markets,” the diplomat emphasized.
