Belarus' MFA: State authorities prioritize stability, security of citizens

MINSK, 23 March (BelTA) – The state authorities place priority on the stability in the country and on the safety and security of citizens, spokesperson for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told reporters when asked to comment on the statements by EU representatives regarding the arrest of rally participants in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“The statement has been given consideration. This is a point of view of our partners. We respect their approaches and take their position into account. We are in favor of close cooperation and dialogue with the European Union in all matters, including those related to human rights. However, certain external and internal forces are against this dialogue, and attempts are made to disrupt it, including by artificially increasing tensions,” Dmitry Mironchik noted.

He pointed out that matters related to the protection of stability, public safety and security were discussed at the meeting held by the head of state on 23 March. “The state authorities have no intention to violate someone's legal rights, launch any kind of ‘repression'. However, if law is violated, a response will follow. It will be calm but commensurate. Law is law, and it should be followed. Stability in the country, safety and security of citizens are prioritized by the state authorities in all countries, and Belarus is not an exception,” Dmitry Mironchik added.
