MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls for a thorough investigation of all the circumstances of the death of the member of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in a car blast near Lugansk, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Belarusian ministry expressed its deep concern over the news of the explosion of the car on 23 April, as a result of which one SMM member died and two were injured. “We call for a thorough investigation of all circumstances of this tragedy. Those responsible should be brought to justice,” the ministry said.
“Belarus supports the activities of the SMM which performs important functions of monitoring the implementation of the Minsk agreement and calls on to take all necessary measures in order to ensure safety of the monitors of the mission,” the press service stressed.
The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its sincere condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased and wished speedy recovery to the injured.
