Belarus, Lithuania discuss prospects of visa facilitation agreement with EU

MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) – The consultations on consular matters between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Lithuania took place in Vilnius on 21 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.

"During the consultations the two sides considered the entire spectrum of matters related to the Belarus-Lithuania cooperation in the consular area including the prospects of concluding the agreements with the European Union on visa facilitation and readmission, on visa-free entry and movement of foreign citizens in Belarus. The parties also considered the status of implementation of the joint declaration on partnership for mobility between Belarus and the EU, the application of the agreement on legal assistance and legal relations in civil, family and criminal matters between Belarus and Lithuania of 21 October 1992 and other aspects of bilateral cooperation in the consular matters," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

During the consultations the Belarusian delegation was led by Igor Fisenko, Head of the Central Consular Office; the Lithuanian delegation was headed by Giedrius Kazakevicius, Director of Consular Department. The Belarusian delegation included representatives of the Citizenship and Migration Department at the Interior Ministry and officials of the Justice Ministry.
