Belarus' Legal Information Center opens in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 14 May (BelTA) – Belarus' Legal Information Center has opened in Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe at the M.S. Osimi Tajik Technical University, BelTA has learnt.

A corresponding agreement was signed by Deputy Director of Belarus' National Center of Legal Information Vyacheslav Beketa and Rector of the university Haidar Odinazoda.

As was noted during the meeting, the center is meant first of all for students who study at the joint Belarus-Tajikistan departments and will continue their education in Belarus. However, the services of this center will be available to everyone, including the business community.

Belarus' Ambassador to Tajikistan Oleg Ivanov underlined that the center will not only facilitate information exchange. “The modern world offers a great variety of information exchange channels. But this will be something bigger. The center implies exchange of technologies and contacts between specialists. It is very important that the center carries a practical aspect related to the Eurasian Economic Union. Today Tajikistan is at the crossroads trying to decide upon its foreign economic priorities. The opportunity to study the practical achievements of the EAEU will have a good practical effect,” the diplomat said.

Vyacheslav Beketa also pointed to the importance of making Belarus' legal information available abroad. At present centers providing unobstructed access to Belarusian legislation operate in Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Russia, Hungary, Pakistan, Czechia, Serbia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Moldova.

The Legal Information Center at the Tajik Technical University is designed to introduce people to legal information resources available in Belarus and help people learn how to use them. Users will also be able to make their contribution to the development of these resources and elaboration of more efficient approaches to using best achievements in the field of law and information technologies with a view to strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation.

The access to the legal information at the center will be provided by the Etalon-Online system.
