Belarus, Latvia discuss plans for high-level contacts

MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – Plans for Belarus-Latvia contacts at the high and highest levels were discussed at a meeting between Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas and Latvia's Ambassador to Belarus Einars Semanis in Minsk, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Andrei Dapkiunas and Einars Semanis exchanged views on the current state of the Belarusian-Latvian relations and noted consistent development of vibrant interstate dialogue and good contacts between the ministries of the two countries. The parties discussed plans for further contacts at the high and highest levels.

The diplomats also talked over the ways to deepen cooperation and mutual support within international organizations and in bilateral contacts. They also discussed cooperation in the areas such as digital technology, climate, sustainable development, combating trafficking in persons, and nuclear security.

The two officials discussed joint work of Belarus and Latvia in the run-up to the 2021 IIHF World Championship.

The Belarusian and Latvian diplomats agreed on the need to create the most favorable conditions for the movement of hockey fans and tourists during the championship, including visa regime, border crossing and transport opportunities.
