Belarus, Latvia discuss interparliamentary cooperation

MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Latvia Vasily Markovich met with Speaker of the Latvian parliament Inara Murniece, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

The meeting touched upon Belarusian-Latvian relations as well as Belarus' interaction with the European Union. The importance of advancing good neighborly, collaborating, and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries was underlined. Economy, transport, and transit were mentioned as priorities.

The sides noted with satisfaction the vigorous and productive nature of interaction between the Belarusian parliament and the Latvian one, including between cooperation groups and specialized commissions. The readiness to continue and step up the level of interparliamentary contacts was confirmed.
