Belarus-Laos economic cooperation seen as promising

MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – The trade and economic cooperation of Belarus and Laos has a potential for development, Ambassador of Laos to Belarus with concurrent accreditation Siviengphet Phetvorasack said during a meeting in the National Center for Marketing and Price Study at Belarus' Ministry of Foreign Affairs, BelTA has learned.

Ambassador Siviengphet Phetvorasack awarded the Medal of Friendship of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Vietnam and concurrently to Laos, Director of the National Center for Marketing and Price Study Valery Sadokho in recognition of his significant contribution to the strengthening of the Belarusian-Lao relations.

Valery Sadokho expressed confidence that further interaction between the two countries would be rich in content. “Laos is an interesting and rich country. It has large reserves of minerals such as gold, tin, copper. Laos is the region's timber export leader. The potential for cooperation has not been yet exhausted,” he said. Ambassador Siviengphet Phetvorasack thanked the Belarusian side for the warm welcome and expressed his conviction that the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has a potential for development.

During the meeting the parties discussed the prospects for the development of all-round cooperation between Belarus and Laos. The Lao delegation was briefed on Belarus' export potential and the services provided by the National Center for Marketing and Price Study to assist companies in the development of foreign economic activities.
