Belarus invited to strengthen cooperation in education, culture with Turkey

MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) – Turkey invites Belarus to strengthen cooperation in education and culture. The matter was discussed at a meeting between Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich and Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Ismail Kahraman on 7 August, BelTA learned from the press service of the Council of the Republic.

The parties discussed the prospects of intensifying inter-parliamentary cooperation. Mikhail Myasnikovich emphasized the importance of expanding contacts between the parliamentary friendship groups of the two countries and confirmed readiness to welcome a delegation of the group of friendship of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in Belarus. “He noted that Belarus praises Turkey's friendly steps in cooperation on different international platforms. Ismail Kahraman emphasized the need for further strengthening of the Belarusian-Turkish relations in sci-tech, education and cultural spheres, and also the youth policy,” the press service said.

On 7 August, the Belarusian parliamentary delegation laid a wreath at the tomb of founder of the Turkish state Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The head of the Belarusian delegation made an entry in the Book of Distinguished Guests in the Mausoleum.

While in Turkey, the Belarusian delegation led by Mikhail Myasnikovich is expected to meet with Prime Minister Binali Yildirim and Chairman of the Turkish parliamentary group of friendship with the National Assembly of Belarus Fevai Arslan. The visit of the Belarusian parliamentary delegation to Turkey will promote further intensification of inter-parliamentary cooperation, the discussion of promising areas of cooperation, and also other issues of mutual interest, said representatives of the Council of the Republic.
