Belarus hopes to continue EU visa facilitation process

MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – Belarus expects that the EU visa simplification process will be continued, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told reporters after the government conference held by the Belarus president on 5 April to discuss the Belarusian-European relations, BelTA has learned.

“The work in this field (regarding visa facilitation and readmission. – BelTA's note) is underway. On our behalf there are certain claims to the European partners, because of whom the progress in the conclusion of these agreements was stalled at a certain stage. But I think that all these issues are surmountable. We will do our best to continue the work in this direction,” Vladimir Makei said.

He stressed that the resolution of the issue regarding the simplification of visa procedures does not depend only on Belarus or the European Union, this is a bilateral process. “There are certain technical moments which we need to discuss once again, but I am convinced that such issues are surmountable,” the Minister of Foreign Affairs added.
