Belarus' Honorary Consul in Tyumen honored by Belarusian parliament

MOSCOW, 9 February (BelTA) - Honorary Consul of Belarus in Tyumen, Vladimir Shuglya was awarded the Certificate of Merit of the National Assembly of Belarus. The ceremony took place in the business and cultural center of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia, BelTA learned from the press service of the diplomatic mission.

Vladimir Shuglya has been honored for his contribution to the strengthening of intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary ties between Belarus and Russia.

Presenting the certificate, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko wished Vladimir Shuglya happy birthday and noted that the two countries know him as a consistent and principled advocate of the development of the Belarusian-Russian relations, as a prominent social activist, a novelist and a poet.

“With his direct participation a number of projects have been implemented to promote Belarusian products in the Siberian region: more than 1,000 tractors and more than 400 MAZ buses have been delivered to Tyumen Oblast over the past five years. Vladimir Shuglya has actively advanced the idea of setting up a permanent exhibition and dealership center at TechTsentr company to sell the whole range of the Belarusian equipment,” Ambassador Igor Petrishenko said.

In reply, Vladimir Shuglya noted the importance of enhancing people's diplomacy, preserving the Belarusian-Russian cultural relations and spoke about the possibilities of boosting trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
