Belarus highlights key role of family in protecting children at UN event in New York

MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – Belarus highlighted the key role of the family in the protection of children at the event at UN headquarters in New York, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the initiative of Belarus, the Group Friends of the Family, together with partners from international and US non-governmental organizations that support the natural family, held a thematic event “The Family, Child Well-being, and the Protection and Empowerment of Girls” on the margins of the 61st session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women. Attending the event were renowned American analysts who deal with the issues of family policy in the world.

The delegation of Belarus noted the key role of the family in protection of children and spoke in support of a stable family that guarantees the quality education of children. The Belarusian delegation also stated the need to promote traditional family values among young people.

The Group of Friends of the Family was established in 2015. It comprises 25 countries from all regions of the world. The Group of Friends of the Family promotes the interests of the natural family and traditional family values in accordance with the concept of the family, as reflected in the internationally recognized documents.
