Belarus, France sign international road transportation agreement

MINSK, 26 October (BelTA) – An intergovernmental agreement on international passenger and cargo road transportation between Belarus and France was signed in Minsk on 26 October, BelTA has learned.

The document was signed by Aleksei Lyakhnovich, Deputy Transport and Communications Minister of Belarus, and Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Secretary of State to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France.

The agreement legally formalizes the existing arrangements between Belarus and France in international road transport, Sergei Dubina, the head of road and urban passenger transport department at the Transport and Communications Ministry of Belarus, told BelTA. “This is a basic agreement in international passenger and cargo road transportation. The draft was negotiated back in the 1990s. Belarus and France have performed all obligations but the document was never signed. We have exchanged permits for this type of transport. The agreement legally formalizes our relations,” he said.
