Belarus, France discuss problem of international terrorism

MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – Ambassador of Belarus to France Pavel Latushko met with Advisor to the President of France Alice Rufo in the Elysee Palace on 18 August, representatives of the Embassy of Belarus in France told BelTA.

Due to the terrorist attacks, which happened in Barcelona, Spain on 17-18 August, the sides underlined the topicality of fighting the threat of terrorism.

A large number of matters concerning the bilateral relations and further advancement of Belarus-France contacts were discussed. The sides noted the importance of creating and operating a Belarusian-French commission on economic cooperation, bilateral working groups on tourism and environment, the importance of invigorating interregional cooperation and expanding cooperation in the sphere of culture.

Close attention was paid to discussing the topical international agenda, Belarusian-French cooperation in international organizations, and proposals on further enhancing trust, security, and cooperation measures in Europe.

The sides also exchanged opinions about Belarus' interaction with the European Union.
