Belarus, EU finalize partnership priorities

MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – Belarus-EU partnership priorities are being finalized, Belarusian Ambassador to Belgium and concurrently to Luxembourg, Permanent Representative to the EU and NATO Alexander Mikhnevich said in an interview with the SB. Belarus Segodnya newspaper, BelTA has learned.

According to the diplomat, this will be the first political document which will form a framework for the further development of relations between Belarus and the EU.

Normalization of political dialogue has had a positive impact on the development of trade and economic cooperation of Belarus with the EU, facilitated access to European financial resources, Alexander Mikhnevich said.

“The OECD member countries have increased the rating of Belarus (for the first time since 1996) that allows Belarus to attract external financing at more favorable rates. The agreement on cooperation with the European Investment Bank entered into force in August last year. It will contribute to the implementation of joint infrastructure projects in Belarus to the tune of about €200 million annually,” Alexander Mikhnevich noted.
