MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – Belarus has made a very wise political decision by accepting the presidency of the Central European Initiative (CEI), CEI Alternate Secretary General Margot Klestil-Loffler said during a meeting of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko with foreign ministers and heads of the national delegations of the CEI member states, BelTA has learned.
“I think it was an extremely wise political and strategic decision of the Belarusian leadership to accept the presidency of the CEI,” Margot Klestil-Loffler said.
According to her, the efforts undertaken by the country give a new dimension to the CEI, which is important and appropriate as it balances out the CEI activities in the European dimension and the Eurasian dimension. The diplomat believes that the Belarusian presidency will improve and develop the relations between the countries within the organization and will provide new opportunities for cooperation.
