Belarus, Czechia intend to develop all-round cooperation

MINSK, 30 June (BelTA) - Belarus and the Czech Republic intend to develop all-round cooperation, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said at a ceremony to open a new building of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Makei noted that the opening of the new building of the embassy is a very important and notable event in the Belarusian-Czech relations. He recalled that the Czech Embassy in Minsk was opened in 1994. “Those were the years of robust cooperation. However, there were ups and downs,” Vladimir Makei said.

He stressed: “We see that the potential of our relationship has not been exhausted, and that we must develop it.” According to the Minister, “the current positive atmosphere in our contacts creates a good basis for the development of cooperation in all areas: energy, transport and logistics, and agriculture.”

The head of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the first official visit of the head of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs as historic. He also expressed the view that the opening of the Embassy will provide an incentive for further cooperation between Belarus and the Czech Republic. “Opening of the Embassy shows that we can find solutions, sometimes compromise ones, to any of the most complex issues.”
