Belarus counts on tight cooperation with Vietnam as ASEAN presiding country in 2020-2021

MINSK, 9 September (BelTA) – Belarus counts on tight cooperation with Vietnam as the presiding country of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2020-2021. Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas made the relevant statement during the solemn function held on 9 September on the occasion of Vietnam's Independence Day, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat noted that Belarus and Vietnam are connected by long-standing friendly relations, which advance vigorously across the board these days. He said that a Belarusian government delegation will visit Vietnam soon. The visit will contribute to further advancement of bilateral cooperation.

Andrei Dapkiunas also mentioned the importance of grassroots diplomacy contacts. He mentioned the contribution of the Belarusian Society for Friendship and Cultural Ties with Foreign Countries in that regard.

In turn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Belarus Hai Pham stressed that in the period of its independence since 1945 Vietnam has had to overcome great difficulties but the country has secured considerable accomplishments. Vietnam's authority in the international scene is on the rise among other things. Belarusian-Vietnamese relations advance dynamically. In particular, joint economic projects are implemented effectively.
