Belarus' contribution to IAPR hailed as important

MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) - Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations Andrei Dapkiunas attended a special farewell ceremony organized by the Executive Board of the International Association of Permanent Representatives to the United Nations (IAPR) on the occasion of the completion of his tour of duty in New York, BelTA learned form the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The International Association of Permanent Representatives to the United Nations was founded in 1988 at the initiative of a number of heads of mission of UN Member States as an informal forum and framework of regular communication and consultation between former and active Permanent Representatives to the United Nations. The IAPR is governed by the Executive Board of which Permanent Representative of Belarus Andrei Dapkiunas is a member.

During the event the members of the Executive Board noted an important contribution of the Permanent Mission of Belarus to the UN to the efforts to raise the public awareness of the IAPR activity by setting up a temporary IAPR website and drawing up a draft resolution on IAPR to be adopted at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.
