Belarus, China's Xianggang enjoy close cooperation in trade and investment

MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – Belarus and China's Xianggang are developing close cooperation in trade and investment, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming said at the event to mark 20 years of Xianggang's return to China's sovereignty, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat emphasized the importance of the fact that Belarus and China are also marking 25 years of diplomatic relations this year. “Bilateral cooperation between our states has been steadily developing. Last year the leaders of the two countries decided to raise the bilateral relations onto the level of trust-based comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation and launch a new stage of Belarusian-Chinese ties,” said the Ambassador.

Cui Qiming also stressed as important that on the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko paid a visit to China to attend the international Belt and Road forum in May 2017. The two heads of state reached new agreements to strengthen Belarus-China contacts during the meeting.

The Ambassador drew attention to great interregional cooperation between Belarus and China. Over many years Belarus and China's Xianggang have been closely cooperating in the economic sector, including in finances and tourism. The agreement on a visa-free travel between Belarus and Xianggang is also a great achievement. “20 years since Xianggang's return demonstrates the successful implementation of the One Country, Two Systems principle. The special administration region Xianggang demonstrates sustainable development, economic growth, improving living standards and expanding international influence,” the head of the Chinese diplomatic mission said.

Deputy Head of the Belarus President's Administration Nikolai Snopkov underlined the importance of the Belarusian-Chinese trust-based comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation.
