Belarus, China working on high-level meeting during 16+1 summit in Budapest

MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming discussed the organization of a high-level meeting during the 16+1 summit (Central and Eastern European Countries and China) in Budapest, Hungary, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

The advancement of bilateral contacts at a high level, including a meeting during the 16+1 summit in Budapest, was high on the agenda.

Andrei Dapkiunas and Cui Qiming also talked about cooperation in international organizations and exchanged their views on approaches to reforming their work.

The 16+1 cooperation format was initiated by China in 2012 in order to step up interaction with Central and Eastern European countries, namely Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Czechia, and Estonia. Belarus took part in last year's summit in Riga, Latvia as an observer.
