Belarus, China discuss schedule of joint events, visits for 2020

MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming to discuss mutual visits in 2020, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The deputy minister and the ambassador emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach to scheduling bilateral events and visits for 2020, as such an approach will help synchronize joint efforts and take the bilateral cooperation to even a higher level,” the press service said.

The parties reviewed some results of Belarus-China cooperation this year. Andrei Dapkiunas and Cui Qiming noted that meetings of the two heads of state produced good results and that these contacts are important for maintaining robust bilateral ties.

The diplomats welcomed increasing inter-ministerial contacts between the two states and the efforts to promote the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone, as well as achievements in cultural and educational exchanges.

The parties discussed in detail topical issues of trade and economic cooperation and emphasized the importance of traditionally close ties and mutual support in international organizations. In addition to that, they discussed a possibility to scale up cooperation as part of multilateral initiatives and associations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Belt and Road Initiative and the 17+1 format.

Other topics on the agenda included contacts between Belarus and China's SCO Committee on Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation, as well as cooperation between Belarus and China in macroeconomic policy and legal control in the China-Europe Railway Express project.
