Belarus' CEC to announce dates for new parliament's first sessions on 22 November

MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – The dates for the first sessions of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the seventh convocation will be named on 22 November. The matter was discussed at a meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

CEC Chairperson Lidia Yermoshina suggested postponing the discussion of the date for the first session of the Council of the Republic (senators were elected on 7 November) to 22 November. On that day the Central Election Commission will summarize the results of the elections to the House of Representatives and make a decision on its first session.

The decisions on the sessions need to be taken in unison, the CEC chairwoman said. Proposals will be taken into account from both the houses.
