Belarus' approaches to EaP initiative presented in Prague

MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – On 4 May, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei took part in a meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of the Visegrad Group and the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries in Prague where he presented Belarus' approaches to the development of the EaP, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting discussed the situation in the Eastern Partnership region, the current status and prospects of implementation of the initiative, and matters of bilateral cooperation with the European Union and each of the six EaP partner states. Vladimir Makei presented Belarus' approaches to further development of the Eastern Partnership initiative and the Belarus-EU relations at the plenary session of the ministerial meeting.

Vladimir Makei also held a number of working meetings with representatives of EU bodies and ministers of foreign affairs of the EU member states and EaP partner countries. “Matters related to the intensification of the Belarusian-EU dialogue were discussed during the meeting with Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations,” the press service noted.

Besides, the Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs met with his Czech counterpart Lubomir Zaoralek. “The parties talked over the ways to expand cooperation between Belarus and the Czech Republic, Belarus and the European Union,” the press service added.
