Belarus and Russia MPs to enhance interaction in foreign policy

MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) – The MPs of Russia and Belarus agreed to enhance interaction in foreign policy, chairman of the permanent commission for international affairs and national security of the Council of the Republic Sergei Rakhmanov said at the 25 Years of Belarus' Foreign Policy conference, BelTA has learned.

The commission for foreign affairs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State has held several meetings recently to discuss what needs to be done to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in foreign policy.

“We have agreed with brotherly Russia to cooperate in foreign policy in the format 2 + 2. This means that the international affairs commissions of the two houses will meet and coordinate their activities in the run-up to various international events,” Sergei Rakhmanov said.

The parties expect to hold the next meeting prior to the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia due in Moscow in late June.
