Belarus advocates level playing field for economic entities in EEU

MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) - Belarus advocates the establishment of equal conditions for economic entities in the Eurasian Economic Union, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said during the expanded-participation session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Minsk on 27 October, BelTA has learned.

“If we fail to remove the existing barriers within the union we will not create equal conditions for economic entities. Our union will be weak, barely able to defend the interests of its business entities, even in the territory of the union,” said Andrei Kobyakov.

According to Andrei Kobyakov, thanks to the constructive position the economic entities concerned have found a mutually acceptable solution to the issue of application of anti-dumping duties against ferrosilicon manganese imported into the customs territory of the EEU. An arrangement was reached to extend the agreement on a pilot project to introduce the marking of “garments, clothing accessories and other items made of fur”. “I am sure, this is only the first step towards honoring our commitment to establish a system for monitoring the movement and sale of goods,” Andrei Kobyakov noted.

He also drew attention to the fact that outside the union there are many difficulties which have a negative impact on the EEU, that affect the integration processes. In such circumstances, all EEU countries should seek to strengthen cooperation in order to effectively confront the existing challenges.
