Appointment of Ukrainian Ambassador to Belarus expected to boost bilateral relations

MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – The appointment of a new Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus should give a greater impetus to the relations between the two countries, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said in Kiev on 26 August, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Belarus operated without an ambassador for a long period. Of course, this has had an effect on our relations. We discussed the issue with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and agreed that the matter would be solved before long. We hope that with the arrival of the new Ambassador, our contacts will get an even greater impetus,” the minister said.

Vladimir Makei noted that the absence of ambassador affects relations between the two countries. “Maybe not drastically, but to a certain extent. Because the presence of these missions and a head of mission in the country of accreditation promotes cooperation in all areas,” he said.
